    Why did we develop MyWritingWizard.com?

MyWritingWizard.com was developed through a process which included literature reviews of most effective educational methedologies; a review of 21st century workforce trends and skill sets; various internal studies and surveys and input fromteachers, parents and school administrators. Throughout this process we identified six important areas that MyWritingWizard.com should address:

    Technology and attributes towards writng
Current research states that computers and use technology can positively affect a student's attitude towards writing. A 2009 study of National Literacy trust found that writing is more fun when students can choose the topic and computers allow them to be more creative, make them write more and make them write more often.

    Computers and the writing process
Extensive research indicates that using computers in writng process improve student's writing skills. According to Marcarthur (1988), computers are dynamic tools for writing, provides a wide range of opportunities for improving writing instructions, and facilitates collaborative writing projects and sharing of work in progress.

    Peer Evaluation
Research demonstrates that teacher and peer evaluation are effevtive strategies for improving writing skils. In a 2010 study by British Journal of Educational Technology, peer review helped foster inreraction, was adopted more often and led to greater improvement in writing. When compared to automated assesment systems, Students consider computerized feedback too general for them to make revisions. Further students regarded peers more of a real audience than computers and found that interactive social learning and increasing awareness of audience were benifits of peer reviews.

    Formative and Summative Assessment
Formative and Summative assessments are both integral parts of knowledge acquisition. In the book Rethinking Education in the Age of Technology, Colins and Halverson (2009) state that ongoing, formative encouragement or critique provides feedback to gide the learners through tasks. Summative assesment give learners feedback on whether the task is successfully completed. MyWritingWizard.com allows a teacher to provide both formative and summative assessments.

    Differentiated Instruction
According to a 2007 study by The International Society for Technology in Education. technology is a highly motivating, interactive tool and both differentiated instruction and technology tools are important for 21st-century education.

    Technology literacy and 21st-century Learning
Technology literacy is acommon place in 21st-century workforce. As such, MyWritingWizard.com provides a suite of tools that allows students to biuld technology literacy skills. In their 2003 report "enGuage 21st century skills: Literacy in the Digital Age,"the North Central Regional Education Laboratory (NCREL) identified digital literacy inventived thinking, and effective communication as integral components of 21st-century learning. They also found that students need to develop new skill sets to cope and thrive in changing society.
